Low stress (0–13): Indicates a low level of perceived stress. Continue maintaining healthy coping strategies.

Moderate stress (14–26): Indicates a moderate level of perceived stress. Consider practicing relaxation or stress-management techniques (exercise, structured routine, mindfulness, talking with someone you trust).

High stress (27–40): Indicates a high level of perceived stress. Professional support (counsellor, therapist, GP) may be beneficial.

The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), originally developed by Cohen et al. (1983), is a clinically validated and widely adopted instrument for measuring perceived stress. The scale quantifies the extent to which life situations are experienced as unpredictable, uncontrollable, and overwhelming. Items ask about general thoughts and feelings during the preceding month and are designed to be clear, brief, and broadly applicable.
